Lambda shuttle

A model of the Lambda-class T-4a shuttle from Star Wars, based on the original prop model.

It is fully rigged. Rigged parts: Landing legs, back turret, both wing turrets, both wings, and the exit/entry ramp.

The materials are set-up for Cycles and Eevee. I've tried to get as close as possible to the Cycles render with Eevee to make quick prototyping easy.

I've baked the diffuse and roughness texture because Eevee doesn't support edge detection.

I provide the .blend file only.

This is a model of the Lambda-class T-4a shuttle, based on the original prop model from the original Star Wars trilogy. I wanted to come as close as possible to the feel of the original with a paper/styrofoam-like material. For reference I used the original prop images I found online. The model is fully rigged and ready for animating in Blender and rendering in either Eevee or Cycles. I've baked the diffuse and roughness textures because Eevee doesn't support any kind of reliable edge detect nodes but also to clean up the node tree and optimize render times. Materials were otherwise almost completely procedural. The model was made with the subd workflow so the poly count is pretty high. All the modifiers are also already applied so the final mesh is not exactly subd ready.

The model was made in Blender. The materials were originally completely procedural but I baked the textures to get as close as possible to the Cycles render with Eevee.

It is optimized to look good in both Eevee and Cycles for fast animation prototyping. All the movable bits like turrets, ramp, or wings are rigged. For the legs, I've rigged them as a 2-stage piston design to make them fold in on themselves. and used inverse kinematics constraints on the bones to make them behave as actual limbs.

You can move the whole leg by going into pose mode while having the selected leg armature selected and selecting the bottom foot bone.

The covers for the legs are controlled by their own armature which uses inverse kinematics again to control how the upper joints react to the different movements of the covers.

The whole ship can be moved by selecting the main body of the ship and moving it.

Wings can be rotated by selecting the main body armature and going into pose mode and then selecting the individual wings bones.

There are also wing turrets that are controlled by their own bones and the back turret which has its own bone. I've already created a series of keyframes to show off the rig in the downloadable blend file. If you wish to create your own I suggest you delete all the keyframes first.

I've tried to match the appearance of the original prop model from the original trilogy. That's why it has a sort of papery feel to it. I've also added some grunge with both an ambient occlusion pass and general grunge on the surface.

In the downloadable file, I provide the blend file and all the textures used in a separate folder.
